EU: Cannabis company receives €2.7 million grant

Somaí Pharmaceuticals has received a €2.7 million grant from the Portugal 2020 committee. Portugal 2020 is a partnership agreement between Portugal and the European Commission to fund programs that help achieve national and continental economic, and social and territorial policy objectives aligned with sustainability and inclusiveness.

"Somai will participate in studies and trials for purified and segregated cannabinoids with the highest quality inputs and procedures, as well as herbal medicine applications," said George Bellow, chief operating officer. "The company plans to develop several cannabinoid formulations with various delivery methods: capsules, transdermal patches, sublingual strips, oral sprays, and drops. We have the potential to grow to over 12.000 m2 of extraction space, making our site one of the largest cannabinoid manufacturing facilities in Europe."
